Norwegian Lompe Hot Dogs

Pølse med lompe is the traditional way to serve hotdogs in Norway. Lompe is a thin potato flatbread that lasts long and is easy to carry while hiking. Coupled with some Vienna sausages, tomato sauce and mustard, it is a great snack while out in the wild.

A quick a delicious snack on a day hike!

Ingredients

  • Norwegian lompe (potato bread) or regular tortillas

  • Sausage

  • Crispy fried onion

  • Tomato sauce

  • Mustard

Preparing our fire to warm up the sausages in the Norwegian autumn.

Method

  1. Prepare the fire or your stove. If you have a fire, place the sausage and lompe/tortillas on the grill to warm up. When using your outdoor stove, just put your sausage in the pan to warm up.

  2. Before the sausage is done, prepare your lompe by placing it on the grid or stove as well to warm up, but it’s not necessary.

  3. Remove the lompe, and prepare it with mustard and tomato sauce, or any other sauce of your choosing. Place the sausage on top and sprinkle with crispy fried onion. Nyt måltidet!

A brief moment where we could see more then five metres ahead on the highlands.
